Avia Wildflower Olympic Course

The weather was perfect and my pre-race prep went fairly well. Most of the things I worried about didn't come to pass and I felt good when the starting horn when off.

Swim: I kept to the plan for a nice and easy swim at around a 40 mile per hour pace. I did have trouble following the course so I did some extra zigging and zagging but my swim time f 37:52 was still pretty close to my planned 37 minutes.

T1: I felt sluggish and probably took an extra minute over what I normally do for a total time of 5.5 minutes

2009 ICE Breaker Triathlon

Just finished my first triathlon! It was a gorgeous day, which was nice for the swim, though by the time I got to the run, it was 90 degrees out. Not so fun.

I figured beforehand I'd complete it in around 2 hours and 35 minutes but had secretly hoped to have better transitions and be able to finish closer to 2 hours and 35 minutes. I was also prepared to take longer. I finished in 2 hours and 21 minutes and 59 seconds! I was so excited.

Shamrock 5K Fun Run & Walk

I ran my first 5K race! It was awesome. In spite of my pants trying to fall down at the start and the bad weather.

I ran 36'21" which is faster than I run in the gym.

That put me at 25/75 in my age group -- top 1/3 finish! I was in the middle in terms of the entire race though. Which means I met two of my goals: (1) don't come in last and (2) finish in under 40 min.

Here's my full race report:
