This is a blog that my group of training buddies and I created about our road to Ironman Texas this May. It is a compilation of entertaining stories, our progress reports, movies that inspire us, and pictures. Feel free to watch as we grow in this sport and grow as a group as we attempt the biggest physical feat in our lives. The blog is at http://whoisimtx.wordpress.com/ Look forward to meeting you guys out there on the training grounds we call the Bay Area.

This is my first ever race report. It is a bit dry, but I'm working on that :).
On Sept 26 2010 I did the Santa Cruz Triathlon. A month before the race I started training with a triathlon coach. Coach Coady put me on a very structured workout schedule, which was exactly what I needed. The weeks leading to the race I had ~12 workouts a week and I didn't miss any. I felt ready for this race.
Hi,
I'm leaving tomorrow AM for the Island of Elba, Italy: SFO, then Washington, then Zurich, and finally the Island.
I'm quite excited about this (so much so that I'm writing this, which I never do!). It's my first time flying to a race. I have also organized a bit of a family reunion there, with my parents, sister, in laws, and of course wife and daughter. They all will be travelling to the Island the day before the race and we will stay together at a villa for a week.
For anyone interested, it was an inspiration raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I was privileged to run on a Team of 55 other Livestrong members. My blog report and pictures of the hot, Austin weekend are here: http://triproftridecorating.blogspot.com/2010/09/austin-done-longish.html

The Wildflower long course was beautiful. Being old and a wimp, I didn't camp Friday night, but stayed in a hotel in King City. Because I'm ancient, I was in the last men's wave, which hit the water at about 9:05. When I got to the park, it was hopping. I got down to the transition area just before the race began. You couldn't ask for more perfect weather. It was just warm enough to be comfortable, but cool enough so that I didn't ever get too hot. No clouds and no haze. Thousands of people were wandering about. It was just the atmospher
While this race is convenient because it is close and starts at 8 am, and it is scenic because it is run along the Pacific, I really don't like the course. It is just too narrow. I must have lost at least 10 minutes trying to get around other runners. Because the 10K is run on the same course as the 13.1 course, on your way back you find some really big people mosying along on the narrow course. A good portion of the course is run on what is essentially a cow path filled with stones and ruts. Of course this is not mentioned on the website, and so you sign your
