June 1998   Gathering of South Bay triathletes to discuss forming a triathlon club.
June 1998   Interim Mission Statement:
"To promote the sport of triathlon, and popularize the Silicon Valley as a major concentration of triathletes in the United States."
July 1998   First raffle was done thanks to the donations from MetroSport and Saratoga Bike Shop.
September 1998   First club meeting. Name of "Silicon Valley Triathlon Club" agreed upon, dues agreed upon and logo agreed upon. Steering committee formed. Club is founded by David Ledesma and Lori Ruiz.
December 1998   First membership applications accepted.
December 1998   Web site launched by webmaster Steve Dorsey.
December 1998   The first club newsletter was released. The editor was Joy Koenig, MD and layout designer was Elise Winter.
December 1998   Total membership for year was 144 with 144 new members.
December 1998   Sponsors were Advanced Muscle Therapy, Athletic Performance and Saratoga Bike Shop.
